Editing space for a maximum of 2 people

The space is located on the first floor in Hämeenlinna main library, in the media area.

In case you need guidance with the equipment and the softwares, you can make a reservation for it. Guidance (appr. 30 mins) includes the use of equipments and softwares. Reservation has to be made at least five days in advance.

In the editing and digitizing space you can

  • convert LP-records, compact cassettes, VHS and VHS-C cassettes to a digital mode.
  • edit pictures, sound and music
  • scan paper photos, dia slides, negatives and negative films
  • transfer/burn your work to CDs or DVDs
  • store or save your work to USB memory or to your own hard drive
  • digitize material from an external source (for example 8 mm and mini DV -cassette). In this case, the customer must bring their own camera with its cables. The camera can be connected to the editing space equipment, for example, video cameras with analogue output and DVD cameras with a FireWire 400/800 (IEEE 1394) connection.

Please note!

  • When digitizing analogue material (VHS- ja compact cassettes), the process will take as long a time as the original material is. It is not possible to speed up the process. Also the creation of the record will take time. Please reserve time for digitizing your material.
  • If you wish to bring your own equipment, also bring all the necessary cables.
  • There is no internet connection on the computer.
  • Changing any settings or installing any software to the computer is forbidden.
  • The files will be saved to the customer's own storage platform. It is possible to buy CD-RW, DVD-R- and DVD-RW-disks and USB memory sticks at the Hämeenlinna main library customer service desk.
  • The user is responsible for keeping their data secure and for saving the data.
  • The user commits to compensation if the equipment or software are harmed intentionally or if they face vandalism during the time the space is reserved for the user.
  • The library takes no responsibility if the customer's work gets lost or if it falls into the wrong hands, nor for any damage the equipment or network connection might cause.
